WESCOM, PNP create coordinating body to address security concerns of Palawan & PPC

TAKING YET another step to better address the security concerns of Palawan and Puerto Princesa CIty, the Western Command signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Provincial and City Police Offices last December 14 at the Command’s headquarters creating the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Committee, a body tasked to coordinate a joint military and police operation in response to any peace and security concern of the city and the province.

The underlying principles for the creation of the JSCC– unity and cooperation– are also the bases of the most recent collaborative agreement between the WESCOM and the police forces of the city and the province.

“We must unite and work together towards achieving a common goal, that of ensuring that our people live in peaceful and secured environment conducive to their growth and development,” Major General Juancho M. Sabban, WESCOM commander, said.

Under the agreement, WESCOM and the police forces of the city and the province shall work collaboratively, institutionalizing the “unity of effort between the military and the police in addressing peace and security concerns” of the localities under their responsibilities.

PSSupt. Aurelio Trampe, PPO Director, said the agreement was a “welcome development” for the provincial police as the coordinated operations would make enforcing the laws, especially in remote areas where soldiers are stationed, easier and more effective.

CPO Director PSupt. Rolando Amurao, on the other hand, described the newly signed agreement as “another milestone” in the history of WESCOM and the police. He said working with WESCOM would augment the lack of CPO police personnel and would greatly help their crime-fighting operations.
